A Fresh Start: Exploring New Year 2024 with Bhagavad Gita’s Guidance

Wishing everyone a heartfelt greeting for the upcoming year 2024. Across the globe, there’s an anticipation that the new year will bring something good and novel into everyone’s lives. It’s not just the new year that ignites our spirits; anything new excites us. Whether it’s new clothes, a house, a car, a birthday, a new toy for kids, a new job, or exploring a new place during vacations, these things stir enthusiasm in us.

Seeking Happiness

We always seek happiness because inherently, at the soul level, we are eternal and our true nature is to be joyous. Hence, we’re constantly in search of something new that brings us joy. Unfortunately, our pursuits for pleasure often end up limited to four things: food, sleep, sensory pleasures, and self-preservation.

The Quest for Real Joy

Happy new year

Ancient scriptures caution us that striving solely for sensory pleasures leads to suffering. Even when we acquire everything, we remain devoid of inner joy and peace. Then, we start searching for new means of happiness.

The Pursuit of True Joy

As per the Bhagavad Gita, just as a child reverts to old games when not finding anything new, similarly, when we don’t discover new sources of happiness in life, we immerse ourselves in mundane activities. However, the rarest and most enduring opportunity for us is to take a dive into the ocean of eternal joy through serving and loving Krishna.

Rare Opportunity for Understanding

Among 8.4 million life forms, only humans possess the superior intellect to inquire about the ultimate truth and comprehend it. The opening aphorism of Vedanta Sutra, “Athato Brahma Jijnasa,” urges us to explore the quest for the ultimate truth in life because we are human.

Pledging a New Start

In this new year, let’s commit ourselves to something truly new by fostering an eternal, infinite, and appealing friendship with Krishna, who eagerly awaits us with immense affection.

Opening the Heart to Krishna

All we need to do is open our hearts, and Krishna promptly reciprocates. As he states in the Bhagavad Gita, “As they surrender unto Me, I reward them accordingly.” Let’s make Bhagavad Gita the center of our lives and immerse ourselves in eternal bliss forever.

Once again, heartfelt wishes to everyone for the upcoming year 2024. Thank you, Hare Krishna!
